NOVEMBER 2024 JOURNAL ENTRY

The Station’s Journey

As we enter our fifteenth year of service supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF), we would like to take a moment and reflect on The Station’s history, evolution, and most importantly, our approach.

The Station’s success is grounded in character. People are our focus. While technology plays an important role in healing, it does not replace the power of connecting, sharing, learning, and growing together. As we continue to expand our reach with emerging initiatives and aftercare processes, we know it cannot be outsourced. We are passionate about quality program delivery and understand that healing beyond war should not emphasize a “scale at all cost” mentality.

The Station is a true community, and we feel especially honored to steward the goodwill of our supporters through everything we present to the SOF Community. Thank you for taking time to learn more about the true homecoming experiences we offer to our Nation’s elite warriors.

Always,
Kevin Stacy
Executive Director

History

The Station Foundation (TSF) was established in 2011 by Special Operations Forces (SOF) Veterans who experienced first hand the detrimental impact combat placed upon our nation’s SOF Service Members and Families. As U.S. conventional forces withdrew from war, we knew more pressure and demands would be placed on the SOF Community.

Although an increased operational tempo was on the horizon, there was limited focus on the service member’s reintegration home. The limited resources available to help SOF transition from the battlefield to their homes paled in comparison to the resources allocated for innovative battlefield preparation and mission execution. TSF took a proactive response to this emerging need and developed programs focused on preserving the health and wellness of our SOF Community.

Approach

Providing necessary reintegration support is at the heart of our approach which aligns with the philosophical foundation of the U.S. Special Operations Command, described as the SOF Truths.

Presenting programs in alignment with the SOF Truths helped The Station establish itself as a trusted entity and successfully deliver effective programs to support our most elite war fighters as they return home. The Station presents a communal approach to healing by providing an intimate setting where trust is built. This environment is a space where participants openly express emotions, learn through shared experiences, increase a sense of belonging, and establish strong bonds with like-minded people. Dozens of studies affirm the importance of social connection and quality interactions, showing that people who have fulfilling relationships with their family, friends, and community are happier and live a longer high-quality life.

The quality impact TSF makes is more important than the number of people TSF supports.

Our quality extends beyond our selection process and intimate setting and into the caliber of facilitators who guide participants along their journey. The Station’s facilitators have invested years in learning and practicing holistic healing modalities in order to deliver world-class services to everyone we support.

Growth

It takes years to train a team to operate at the level of proficiency needed to support the challenges the SOF Community face. By approaching growth in a slow, deliberate manner, The Station has successfully expanded programming beyond our Montana headquarters and watched our team of facilitators grow from two to ten in the past three years.

Since inception, The Station has quietly supported thousands of SOF Families while simultaneously refining our craft to build a competent team prepared to facilitate the hard conversations surrounding the ever intensifying challenges these warriors and their families face.

A Moment Worth Celebrating

We are deeply honored to announce that The Station has been named the winner of the 2024 Defender Service Awards in the Veteran and Civil Servant category! This recognition will significantly enhance our ability to serve the SOF Community through our programs.

We were humbled to stand alongside so many extraordinary organizations throughout this journey, all demonstrating an unwavering commitment to serving others. This achievement belongs not just to us but to our entire community of supporters who voted daily and championed our cause. Your belief in our mission makes our work possible, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.

Thank You For Your Support

Your generosity provides powerful experiences that help Special Operations Forces—Warriors, Spouses, Children, and Gold Star Children— heal from the impacts of combat.

Thank you for your continued support in making this possible.
