Program Spotlight: Stepping Into Their Dads World

Program Spotlight Series
JULY 2026 PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

A Window Into Their Dad’s World

The room is loud in the way only a room full of kids can be… They’re excited, energetic, slightly nervous, not yet the focused team they’re about to become.

Then the briefing drops.

An enemy force has seized critical cargo. Now, they have a mission, a map, and support from someone they trust. This is their dad’s world, and for three days, they get to experience it firsthand. When the trail splits, they’re not alone. When the cargo comes into view, it’s up to them to take action. The moment is real, earned, and entirely theirs.

These moments build more than memories. They build confidence, resilience, and connection to their parent, their peers, and the values of service that define the SOF community. They discover they’re part of something bigger.

This is the lasting impact that The Station’s summer programs have on military children and Gold Star Sons and Daughters.

Restore

Fathers and their kids gathered at Base Camp Jimmy for Restore – a wilderness summer camp designed to strengthen family bonds through connection, teamwork, and adventure. From navigating whitewater rapids to solving mission-based challenges, they spent meaningful time side by side, building trust and creating memories that will last long after Montana.

What makes Restore special is the chance for military children to discover new strengths in themselves and each other. By stepping outside their comfort zones, they returned home with stronger connections and the confidence to take on new challenges as they come.

The Crossing

The Crossing brought new and returning Gold Star Sons and Daughters to Montana for 10 days. Each participant was paired with a mentor who served alongside their Fallen parent. Through shared stories, these mentors helped them see the qualities and strengths their parent carried reflected in themselves.

Outdoor challenges, leadership experiences, and time spent with others who truly understand pushed participants to lean on each other and see their own strengths more clearly. They left with lasting friendships, new confidence, and a deeper connection to the parent they honor and the person they’re becoming.

Miles On A Mission

From June 8 through August 31, you can support Special Operations Forces families in a meaningful way through United Airlines’ Miles On a Mission campaign. Donating your MileagePlus miles helps cover travel costs for the SOF families attending The Station Foundation’s programs in Montana.

Army Of Spokes Team Fundraiser

This July, a team of distinguished leaders, veterans, and professionals will ride RAGBRAI LIII to raise critical funds for The Station Foundation. Among them: an alumni participant who once mentored at The Crossing, our Gold Star summer camp, now riding to give back

100% of donations support The Station’s programs for service members, veterans, spouses, children, and Gold Star Families.

They’re going the distance for our warriors and their families. Visit theirfundraising page to learn more and consider donating to help fuel the journey across Iowa.
