The Green Thread

The Special Forces Foundation and The Station Foundation partner to support Green Beret Spouses

Bozeman, MT – 05 January 2026: The Station Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) and their families, announced today a partnership with The Special Forces Foundation to launch The Green Thread, a year-long mentorship program open to Tenth Special Forces Group (10th SFG) spouses in the Fort Carson area. This initiative deepens the collective impact of both organizations and combines specialized expertise to address the unique needs of Green Beret families.

The Green Thread leverages The Station Foundation’s 14 years of experience providing genuine healing for SOF families and combines it with The Special Forces Foundation’s deep commitment to the Special Forces community. The Station’s approach to healing addresses the unique stressors these families face, including a high operational tempo, frequent deployments, and the challenges of reintegration back into the home and community.

“The Station Foundation deeply values the transformative power of community-based healing and recognizes firsthand the strength and impact that mission-aligned organizations present when uniting under a common mission,” said Kevin Stacy, Executive Director of The Station Foundation. “For The Station Foundation, The Special Forces Foundation is that teammate. This partnership brings together shared purpose and understanding of the unique needs facing our Special Forces families. The Green Thread is an important step towards addressing these needs that often go overlooked. Most importantly, it embodies our belief in authentic connection and shared storytelling, which are cornerstones to the resilience and healing this community deserves. This partnership ensures we deliver exceptional support to our SOF Community in ways that resonate and bring them home from war.”

The Special Forces Foundation has consistently demonstrated its dedication to the Special Forces Community through its comprehensive support for Green Berets and their families. Through initiatives such as transition support, emergency assistance, Gold Star and Surviving Family Project, and many more, their dedication to this community is evident.

“The Special Forces Foundation is dedicated to providing immediate and ongoing support to the Special Forces community and their families,” Mark Mallory shared, Chief Executive Officer of The Special Forces Foundation. “We are proud to announce our partnership with the Station Foundation to launch a new initiative: The Green Thread. This initiative is a yearlong effort with multiple facilitated events that support Special Forces Spouses through peer mentorship to foster emotional resilience, identity, and well-being. The Green Thread creates spaces for connection, restoration, and peer support, ensuring families have opportunities to be seen, heard, and understood. The Special Forces Foundation and The Station Foundation are committed to meeting the evolving needs of the Special Forces community by ensuring families receive the support they deserve.”

This new partnership strengthens each organization’s collective ability to meet Green Beret spouses where they are, guiding them toward healing and a renewed sense of purpose. The program emphasizes authentic community, peer mentorship, and storytelling as pathways to building emotional resilience, identity development, and overall well-being among Green Beret Spouses.
