A Journey Toward Purpose
Who are you when the uniform comes off, and what gives you purpose when the mission that once defined you is no longer there? For years, the mission was assigned. The objective was clear, the team was beside you, and purpose came with orders. Then the orders stopped, and the map went blank.
The Pursuit is The Station Foundation’s answer to that uncertainty: a year-long journey that brings Special Operations veterans together with mentors to navigate life after service. Throughout the year, participants work through learning modules, build meaningful connections with their mentors, and explore the challenges of Stress, Loss of camaraderie, and Purpose. The program culminates in an archery elk hunt deep in the Montana backcountry, bringing together the lessons, relationships, and personal growth developed throughout the year.

Stress can remain long after the structure of military life is gone. Guided breathwork, physical conditioning, archery, and time outdoors give participants practical tools to manage stress and meet everyday demands with greater awareness.
Loss of camaraderie often leads to feelings of isolation when the bonds formed through military service are no longer part of daily life. The Pursuit creates opportunities to build new ones. Participants work alongside fellow veterans and civilian mentors who bring different experiences and share a commitment to character and personal growth. Together, they find common ground that reaches beyond their backgrounds.
Purpose doesn’t always come easily after service. The Pursuit offers participants opportunities to develop new skills and connect with the land. They begin to see how their values can continue to guide them as they find their footing in a new chapter.
That sense of purpose extends into the hunt itself. The experience reaches beyond the pursuit of an elk. It carries a sacred responsibility to respect the animal, the land, and the traditions that have connected people to the land for generations. Participants are invited to think about what it means to live with intention, care for the places around them, and how to carry those values forward.

Thank You To Our Sponsors
Thank You To Our Partners. We are very grateful to those whose generosity helped bring this program to life.
A special thank you to the Moore Family for welcoming us on their beautiful property and sharing their land with our participants. Their generosity provided the foundation for this entire experience and gave participants the opportunity to learn, connect, and challenge themselves in the Montana backcountry.
Hunting also requires a significant investment in gear and equipment, creating barriers that can keep many from ever stepping into the field. Through the generosity of our program sponsors, participants had access to the equipment and resources they needed to fully engage in the experience.
We are grateful to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, MeatEater, Mystery Ranch, Oboz, Argali, GoRuck, Vortex, Onyx, MTNTOUGH, Phelps Game Calls, and Stick Sniper Archery.
